Vor ein paar Tagen habe ich dann doch mal geguckt - und zwar Deutschland gegen Italien, Halbfinale der EM 2012. Wer das Spiel gesehen hat, der weiß, das deutsche Team, hat sich nicht gerade mit Ruhm bekleckert. Wenn ich es nicht besser gewusst hätte, wäre ich sicher gewesen, dass die Italiener mit doppelter Mannschaft auf dem Platz standen. Und so kam es dann auch. Dem deutschen Team war das Glück hold, und sie schossen ein Tor als Elfmeter, während das italienische Team seine Wendigkeit und starke Abwehr bewies. Zwei Tore auf Seiten der Italiener. Beide geschossen von Mario Balotelli. Ich habe mich ehrlich für ihn gefreut, denn ich glaube, dass Nationalhelden mit "Migrationshintergrund" diese Welt ein bisschen besser machen.
Kurz darauf bin ich dann aber per Zufall auf diesen Artikel in der Guardian gestoßen. Leider hat also dieser neue Superheld eine Geschichte voll Diskriminierung hinter sich. Und leider gehen diese seit dem Spiel gegen Deutschland weiter. Facebook ist ein Platz auf dem jede Menge Fotomontagen geteilt und kommentiert werden, die sich über den Siegerschützen lustig machen. Focus Online hält diese offenbar für so öffentlichkeitswirksam, dass sie noch mal extra ausgestellt wurden. Bei den Fotomontagen mag es ein bisschen so sein, wie bei gewissen Karikaturen, die vor einiger Zeit für Wirbel sorgten. Wer da empfindlich ist, der habe offenbar keinen Humor und ihm mangele es an Aufklärung. Wer aber gestern, so wie ich beim Public Viewing in einem der buntesten Stadtteile Hamburgs war, der muss befürchten, dass in Fotomontagen und Worten nur ein ganz klitzekleines bisschen Humor und ganze viel Rassismus steckt.
Und ich bleibe dabei: Nationalismus und Rassismus sind leider nicht weit genug voneinander entfernt, als dass man ungestört zusehen könnte, wie das eine langsam wieder wächst.

I don't watch football / soccer. I don't understand why 22 men running after a ball can dig out more emotions, than an environmental disasters. The smell of sweat and beer with men who almost can't hold their tears, but at least get drunk if their team loses, is not what I consider as joy. Those men might not be my relative, but they are definitely not my soul mates. And yes, I admit, I found the flags all over Germany quite strange at the beginning. At least, I grew up in a time when flags were hanging in this country almost only in front of parliaments.
A few days ago I watched a match - Germany against Italy, the semifinals of the UEFA Eurocup 2012. Anyone who has seen the game knows that the German team has not exactly covered itself with glory. If I had not known better, I would have thought, that the Italians had a double team on the court. At the end the German team was happy enough to shoot a goal with penalty, while the Italian team proved his versatility and strong defense. Two goals to the Italians. Both shot by Mario Balotelli. I was honestly happy for him, because I believe that national hero with a "migration background" will make this world a bit better.
Shortly after, I came across this article in the Guardian. Sadly, so the story, this new super hero, has a history full of discrimination. And unfortunately this continued since the game against Germany. Facebook is a place where a lot of photomontages have been shared and commented that make fun of the winning striker. Focus Online apparently thought this is good for publicity and showcases such stuff on their magazine. With this photomontages it may be a little bit, as with certain cartoons, which caused a so much discussions all over the world recently. The ones who are sensitive in this cause are said obviously lacking in sense of humor and enlightenment. But who was watching in public space in one of the most colorful parts of the city of Hamburg yesterday, must argue, that there is only a tiny little bit of humor lying in this photo montages and words but much of racism.
